The short version

Kitchen table

I am FNU Ratnavarma. I work with computers and I have done it for 21 years in enterprise technology. I lead AI work at a global consultancy. Most of it helps large US utilities, the companies that keep the lights on.

I study how an AI helper can plan, guess what comes next and act safely when the stakes are high. I work on world models. A world model is a picture of the world that a machine keeps in its head. I also work on JEPA, reinforcement learning and ways to test how reliable these helpers really are.

I read other people’s papers for journals and workshops. I judge AI hackathons and research sprints. I am an IEEE Senior Member and I mentor through the IEEE Power & Energy Society.

Whiteboard

I am FNU Ratnavarma, an independent applied AI researcher and enterprise AI practitioner with 21 years in enterprise technology. I lead AI solution delivery at a global consultancy, where my work centers on large US utilities.

My research asks how AI agents can plan, predict, and act safely in high-stakes operations. I work on world models, joint embedding predictive architectures (JEPA), reinforcement learning, and methods for testing how reliable autonomous agents really are.

I review papers for journals and workshops and judge AI hackathons and research sprints. I am an IEEE Senior Member and I mentor through the IEEE Power & Energy Society.

My research asks one question. Can AI agents plan, predict and act safely in high-stakes operations? I work on world models, JEPA, reinforcement learning and methods for testing how reliable autonomous agents really are. The aim is an agent you can govern before it acts.

I review papers for journals and workshops. I judge AI hackathons and research sprints. I am an IEEE Senior Member and I mentor through the IEEE Power & Energy Society.
